Default Electric Fan

I have a 14in zirgo electic fan that I am installing on my 65. The temperature probe must be inserted into the top radiator hose but I am un-able to do this without the hose leaking. I have tried every way has anyone else ran into this problem?

Thanks everyone

the probe itself should be thicker than the sender cable its attached to.
did you get the probe in far enough past the neck of the radiator so you are clamping down on the cable?

Yes the bulb is IN the rad, but there is this rubber grommet that you are supposed to put in under the smaller tube in order to protect it from kinking when you tighten the clamp down, the only problem is the grommet doesn't even go half way around the top hose attachment. I think I may try to clamp it down without the grommet, just being careful to make sure i do not kink the tube...

wow that sounds like a bad idea.....all the temp probes I have seen all fit into the fins of the radiator between the cores you just slide it in gently and it stays put it never makes contact with the water. who's dumb idea was it to put the sensor inside the rad hose...which company...did I read the correctly??

Sure did, Zirgo is the company... I think I might double clamp it and see what that does but I want to keep it clean I don't want it to look like the thing was just peiced together...

Im not sure what that probe looks like but if its not very big around you can place it in the radiator fins. The probe for mine is about 1/8" around and 2.5" long if the one you have is close just place it right near the water inlet for the radiator...Thats going to have about 5 degress of the same temp as the water and hopefully you have an adjustable unit so you can pick the temp that it comes on to make up for the difference in the temps.

That is the exact product I am trying to install. I might try placing it between the fins...

Thanks for the help!

That looks close to mine just place it between the fins right near the inlet hose at the top of the rad it wont know the difference.

I bought a 16 inch Zirgo that was allegedly 3600CFM but when I tested it against a 59 mm aluminium radiator, 12 volt baterry, when the car was running producing 13.7 volts it only had 1300CFM. Interestingly enough if you put more volts through the CFM rating got faster. I ended up going SPAL. a 14 inch zirgo won't keep the 65 cool if that is all you are running.

Well I ended up putting the temperatue probe through the fins right under the inlet.

The fan kicks on at 200 degrees and cuts off at 183 degrees at idle. I took the car for about a 30 minute drive with some wide open sraights and a lot of sitting traffic. The car never got about 205 degrees....
