Default procomp parts

does anyone have procomp parts on their stangs? i do, but i gota say im not happy with em. i bought a procomp probillet distributor for my car, since it looked exactly like the msd one (which is one of the reasons msd has a law suit on them, i think). anyways, if you saw my last post about my car shuting off out of no where, im blaming my distributor. a buddy of mine who lnows engines and elec systsems cane over and had me fire the car up. he kept his hand on the distributor and right as the engine shut off he gently pulled the dist towards him and the car stayed runing. he let go and it shut off. the dist is completly grounded too. he used a test light and everything that needs a ground has one. i just dont get it. i realy wish i didnt buy it, lol but i honestly didnt know better at the time. well thanks for reading, Nick

Hiya,

check the ground INSIDE the distribiutor. The ignition module must be fixed on contact braker plate and the contact braker plate needs to be properly grounded (usually with a cable going from there to housing).
I had that problem once with a pertronix, where one of the screws was loose that hold this cable. all sorts of trouble.
Next thing to try is that the shaft is grounded properly. best thing get one cable of a jump lead (which are 2 cables). connect one side of the cable to battery-, the other to sitributor shaft.
last thing to try is to get rid of distributor cap and see if the connector in the cap (which will lead to coil) has proper connection with the spring on the rotor (sometimes it's the other way rounnd: spring on the middle connector)

best of luck, you seem to have it isolated quite well
