My discbrakeswap.com Experience
Hey there everyone, I can finally say that I NOW HAVE DISC BRAKES. And as you can tell by the title of this post, I purchased them (Granda Swap Kit + Power Booster/Power Brake Upgrade) from discbrakswap.com.
Let me lay down the foundation, I am not a mechanic but I am mechanically inclined and as much as I would like to say that I did the swap myself, I can't. My buddy who is a Master Mechanic helped me out but he let me lead most of the way so it was actually a pretty good learning experience.
Overall, the swap took about two days, if we had to do it again the two of us could probably nail it down in a day. The parts were all there and packaged nicely. Each box had a parts list and I printed the directions that are available at discbrakeswap.com to assist us throughout the process. We did have a few questions during the swap and I have to let all of you know that every time I reached out to Dennis (discbrakeswap.com guru) he WAS EXTREMELY HELPFUL. He went out of his way to make sure all of our questions were answered and I HIGHLY recommend going with these guys if you need to swap out your drums. Good quality parts at a reasonable cost.
The only suggestion I have is that the directions could probably use a few more photos to make it a little more easier for non-mechanics like myself to follow along. Again, I had some help, so my buddy would let me struggle for a bit while I tried to figure out what the heck I was doing. Also, we've bled the brakes a few times and I still can't get the "high and tight" feeling as suggested in the directions. It may be our issue, but once I get to hit the street (Friday) I'll know more or less what's going on. The other thing is, we had to lathe the bearing snout to fit the 15" Style Steel wheels I purchased from Mustangs Plus (Dennis helped with specs here as well - Thanks Dennis!).
So there you have it, my experience. Hopefully this helps someone like me looking to add some discs to their Pony.
Side note: Keep in mind that during the two days of install I also did the Shelby Drop, 1/3 coil cut, swapped out spring perches, and a steering rebuild. I also painted the inner wheel well that I had already prepped before I jumped into the swap project. I took her off the jack stands and boy does she sit nicely now.... no more Mustang rear sag. I will post some photos soon....

Congratulations... you just completed a great upgrade! I remember doing my swap it was a blast. First thing I ever did to the old money pit.... I mean Mustang!

sweet :-) I ordered them a few weeks ago and they are currently sailing on the Atlantic with all my other parts (rear axle, T5). Will probably receive all end of next week after customs clearance. Can't wait to puyt them in. As for Dennis I have to say the same.
I have a 1964 1/2 setup where the brake light switch is on the master cylinder, which will not fit the new master cylinder. After asking him lotsa questions on what adapter to use he (thankfully) realised that I'm just not getting it. So he organised the missing part and threw it in the box :-]
edit: about time you changed your sig James. Car looks fantastic!

i got a question for you sanjosebass. it says that you have to adapt your hard brake lines to make this fit. how did that work out for you? i was going to order from them but i wasnt sure as far as the adapting part.
Congrats on the swap! I have to agree that Dennis is friendly and willing to help out. While I haven't done the swap yet it was the first thing I ordered for the car.. followed by the RF wiring and the Branda Shelby components (bite the bullet, spend the big bucks and get committed). lol
I shot photos of everything in the kit and posted them in this thread. Hopefully by late summer / early fall I'll be doing the swap. Body work at this point and paint gets done first.

Congrats, did mine last year, Dennis is great. Dont forget to have the car realigned to a 77 granade spec.
Knuckless... the adapting part, fairly straight forward, i just pruchased new lines (5 bucks) bent them and bingo, fits like a charm, i did relocate the passengers side line to come through the engen bay compartment rather than through the strut tower, makes lubing easer.

While I can see the definant improvement of a disc brake swap as anyone can, I just cant see spending the money for a single piston mid 70's setup. SSBC and Master Power have fomoco repro front 4 piston disc swaps for under 1k and ssbc has a 4 piston rear swap using 80's svo calipers for about the same, and even on the street rear discs arent necessary a nice drum brake refurbish will do the job just as nice. well just my 2 cents, but glad you guys got some good results.
DONT FORGET..... Dennis also sells Kelsey Hayes style 4 piston calipers anddiscs. This requires NO spindle change on early Mustangs as long as you have V-8 Spindles. And for a LOT less than SSBC for basicly the SAME kit. If you dont believe me compare both kits.
