Default need some help

I recently bought a 1968 fastback mustang 4speed toploader it runs failr well but when in gear the car is in gear and i hit higher rpms the shifter will start to shake im thinking the problem is that when the previous owner replaced the prginal 302 with a newer mustang 1984 5.0L 302 in he didn't change out the flywheel for the correct one. Anyone else have any ideas what the problem could be? thanks for all the help in advance (the motor and trans were rebuilt less then 1000 miles ago)

by shake you mean like gonna break in half and fall apart,REALLY shake, or just start to wobble a little? my crappy three speed does that, but so do most manuals. if its not a crazy shake, might not be terrible

it shakes fairly crazy makes enough noise for it to be annoying but then again im use to drivng newer cars and never had expereince with a manual trans or car older then a 1994 ranger. it gets fine when im at cruise rpms but if i want to step on it the shifter starts shaking fairly loud

sorry about that, you need the 50oz balancer on a late model engine if it has the 28oz balancer it would cause that vibration...look for the part number on the balancer

ie C9=69' E1=81'

if you hear a rattling sound it could be loose connections on the shift linkage beneath the ****er on the side of the trans, or it may be hitting the edge of the transsmission tunnedle on the body. do you have a video camera? you could link a vid.
