power rack and pinion
I'm building a '67 mach 1. I've already built an independant rear suspension built from a jaguar raer diff, butt i'm having problems with the front suspension. I've built all the brackets I need for a power rack and pinion. The problem i'm having is that the rack i'm using is out of a late model taurus, but the case is to wide and I don't have much of a turning radius. I need to know if any one knows what rack I can use to fix this problem without having to change or modify any of the brakets i've built. any help would be appreciated.<IMG src=smileys/smiley5.gif border="0">

A 67 Mach 1? Thats new too me. Why in the world would you use a set up out of a taurus. The input shaft angle would be incorrect and the ps lines would be a pain to get in place you would need a totaly differnt steering shaft set up. and the mounts are not desigined for the old style body and its not desigined for a v-8 rear wheel drive. Thats insane to even try.

sorry it is a 67 fastback with mach 1 stripes. The taurus setup works fine but has crappy turning radius, I have only half the travel I need to turn properly. The input shaft does have a steep angle but that was fixed with a pair of borgeson u-joints and the ps line are no problem. the other concern that I haven't adressed yet is header and clutch linkage clearence but I'm waiting for the oil pan to show up before I can drop the motor back in the car and see where every thing lines up.
