Default Questions!!!!

I am currently restoring a 1970 mustang, and I have discovered that it appeared to have been a 3 on the tree! I have not seen this in any year mustang and was wondering if it did in fact occur. Thanks! Also, if anyone has doors and drivers side fender for a 70 for sale, let me know!

I am located on the west half of the country. Moses Lake Washington to be exact. Thanks for the reply and confirming my suspicions on the column.

Here's a dumb question...why would anyone change out a column? I've never heard of one wearing out. It also seems like it would be a really nasty job, but my knowledge of steering mechanisms is about equal to my knowledge of quantum physics.

Is the ignition in the column? Most likely related to the key

Like all 1970s the ignition is on the column. However, I also think that it had something to do with the availaiblity of the colmn itself. In any case however, it works! Haha. One of my concerns with this set up is that when i replace the transmission and engine that it may prove to be problematic. I am upgrading to a 351w and hopefully an fmx transmission. The current setup is a 302 and a c4 trans. This will be my first swap and I am wondering what snags may occur during the swap because of the strange column setup.

I personally don't know of any problems you'll incur because of the swap other than you'll probably not want to use the column shifter and create a floor shifter setup but I did want to say something about the FMX, i have an fmx in my 72 and while I think its cool to have, personally i have been having one hell of a time finding parts for it. Not to mention the availability of aftermarket shifters for it is SCARCE. I would recommend keeping your C4 and build it up in place of the FMX because if done right they can be better than the FMX, or just swap in a C6 which also is really strong just in its stock form.
