Default Custom gauges?

I want to replace all the gauges in my '67 coupewith Autometer gauges.I've seen some companies are offering these for $1000-$1500. They claim to have heavily modified the bezel in order for the Autometer gauges to fit. I want to save some bucks and do it myself.

I found gauge support sold by Mustangs Unlimited that's supposed to hold Autometer gauges to an original '67 bezel without having to modify it.

Has anyone used this gauge support?

This support can accept 2 1/16" or 2 5/8" gauges (with modification to to support). Any words of wisdom concerning which size gauges to use?

Anything else I should know?

Helped a buddy use it on his 67. We used 2 5/8" gauges and it worked with very little modification. We liked the outcome too. next time i see him, I'll snap some photos. Definitely the way to go as opposed to $1500....

I used it on mine but there is a bit of cutting involved to get the gages just right in the bezel..

I used the stock cluster and backing plate to make my own. It only took about a day and saved me over $500. I used 2 5/8" gauges and 5" gauges.

I don't have a '67, but I was able to drill out the stocker and make it look somewhat decent.

I'd like to see those pics with the 2 5/8 gauges. The MustangDepot kits have 2 1/16 gauges, so I'd like to see the difference in looks. I'm also not a huge fan of the white faced gauges behind the aluminum (deluxe) bezel. I'm going with either the Carbon Fiber gauges (of course, they're the most expensive Auto Gauge has) or the Sport Comps (black face with red needles).

What size gauges did you use?

Do you have a larger picture you could email to me?
