Default front blinker issues

Hey Everyone:

OK, hear is whats happening with my front blinkers. When I pull out the light switch **** half way, both blinker lights come on. When I pull the **** all the way out, the headlights come on, but the blinker lights both turn off.

Now, with the headlights on, neither front turn signals will blink, UNLESS I hold the brake pedal down, and then you can see them VERY faintly blinking. If I put the **** back to half way, both the fronts blink correctly.

What do you all think? Where should I look for the problem here?

Year of your car?
Bad ground....Check the grounds on the head lights first then the blinkers....Both sides...Your Blinkers may be grounded form the housing to the body. The head lights will have a ground wire on the plug in the back...

Definitely a ground problem, I don't know how the blinkers are grounded on a 65, shouldn't matter....

Sounds like ground problem. The only thing that sounds normal is the front parking lights going out with the headlights on, that's how they are, at least through 67 or 68. You can also check the main harness coming from the steering column as well, see if it has been "redone", all the lights (tail, brake, blinkers, horn)tie into the turn signal switch.

My lights were doing all kinds of crazy stuff. Brake lights work until you turn on a signal light, then the signal works but the brake light doesn't. Turn on the emergency flashers and my backup lights flashed but nothing else. Installed a new turn signal switch, now everything works except I still have the same brake light/turn signal problem. I had one red wire left over from the turn signal switch and I didn't hook it up to anything. The brake light switch had one wire (hot) coming from the fuse box and the other going to the brake lights. Think I'll try hooking up the red (hot) wire from the turn signal switch to the power wire for the brake light switch to see if that fixes the problem. Confused?Your problem could be a bad ground, or it could be the same as my problem was - someone went in a cut a buch of wires and redirected them.
