Default steering box. when to install

i bolted up my original steering box and all my linkage so i can roll my car around. but i was wondering, how hard is it to swap a steering box once the engine is already in? cause i might just keep my original 16:1 steering box until i have the money for a flaming river one. what do i need to take out in order for me to get the new box in once the motors in? the linkage? crossmember?

another question:

i just ordered some defreoster parts and a new firewall insulation with adhesive and the "hats" for the cowl vent. do i need to to have the steering box out in order to install the insulation? and does the brake pedal bracket have to come off? im assuming yes on both.

The motorwill need to be lifted about 2 inches on the left hand side, the oil pan will need to come off, the front cross member wll need to be removed and most of the steering linkage will need to be dropped to make room for the steering box to drop out from the bottom. Its either this or remove the engine from the car and its all a lot easier.
