Default RE: New Car

i got the car for 7800.

yonco to answer that question i will be taking care of the brakes first.
but have no fear. im not talking about 13 inch rotors and 6 piston calipers

just a basic 11 inch rotor and basic calipers.

the car has four wheel drums, and i just want a basic disc brake package. something to make it road worthy on a daily basis.

after the brakes, i have to upgrade the trans from a 3-5 speed. i need to be able to drive it on the high way.

the wheels may come at any time. my friend has a set on his 240 lexus and hes selling the car so i might be able to finagle those soon.

paint will probably have to wait till the end of summer.

Why would you push it to a 302? If you're going to stroke it, go for the 331 or 347, otherwise just leave it at 289. You can get 300hp out of a 289, you'll just have to wind it up a bit to get it there.

The 650 could be useful on a stroker motor, but I can't see you needing it on a 289 unless you wind the **** out of it (which isn't a bad idea

Oh, and concerning the 3sp, I drive my 67 on the freeway all the time with a 3sp:P 3rd gear is still 1:1, just like a 4sp. Not that I don't wan't a 5sp, but I can't afford one that's strong enough for me right now, and the toploader 3sp is pretty much bulletproof.

650 should be okay if his going to raise the displacement and make the engine a little more radical
