Default zero compression on piston one

I did a head gasket change on one side of the engine. i had the head cleaned and i put it all back together and now i have zero compression on piston one. the car can drive but it just sputters with a significant power loss. I think it might be the piston rings but i honesty dont know. What do you guys think? please help me.

you'd have to have something seriously wrong to have ZERO compression.

what exactly were done to the heads. we need more details

Why did you change the gasket in the first place?
Did you carefully inspect the gasket? Look for signs of burn through or discoloration where there may have been leaks.
When they cleaned the heads, did they make sure it is flat or have it magnafluxed?

Zero compression is hard to get unless a valve is just stuck open.

Pull the plug. Get a squirt can and squirt about a teaspoon of oil in the cylinder. immediatly check the compression. did it jump up? If yes, bad rings. If no, valves or gasket or possibly broken rings.

Did you verify that the valves are actually opening and closing properly.
Inspect for broken springs, bent pushrod ect.

I'm guessing at improper valve adjustment. How did you adjust the valves?

other thing you can do is use a cylinder leakage gague... see where its leaking...

Do a compression test first and actually see what the compression is, there are several things that can cause lost compression

the old gasket had worn away between cylinders 3 and 4 causing blow by. i changed the gasket and i made sure it was correctly lined up. the only thing that might have happened is that the gasket may have shifted when i put the head back on. my father did the compresion test he testes pistons 1-4 4 was about 130 3 was about 125 2 was about 150 and 1 he said was zero. my buddy said even if the piston rings were shot you would still have some sort of compression. so I honestly dont know anymore. i just want to get this thing running!

To actually have 0 compression you either have a stuck/bent valve or a holed piston. And I think you meant your father testeD the compression, and not testes it.

Find out what the problem is and fix it. Pull a valve cover and turn the engine over by hand(easy with the spark plugs out). Watch the rocker arms and cylinder 1, see if you have one that doesn't open or close all the way.
