Default Buzzing From Transmission?

I've got a noise that sounds kind of like a buzzer from my transmission. It sounds kind of like a serious of very rapid ticking noises. At least I think it's coming from the transmission. It's really hard to tell because it's very intermittent. It only happens at slow speeds or when I'm stopped. It happens more often when it's in gear than when it's in park. It seems to happen more often when it's cold. Everytime I climb under the car with a rubber hose to look for it, it stops. I've tightened up my headers and collectors, rebent transmission lines to make sure they aren't vibrating against anything. I noticed my transmission fluid level was a little high so I pumped a little out through the dipstick and this seemed to make it a little better, but it's hard to tell and it's definately still there. It was doing this last year too, but I don't remember it being as loud. Today I noticed for the first time that when I put it in gear it didn't go into gear right away. It had about 1-2 second delay. The transmission is basically the only thing that hasn't been rebuilt yet, so I'm thinking it's about time, but I want to make sure it's the transmission before I pull it out. I don't want to rebuild my tranny and still have this noise later. What do you guys think? Thanks.

Oh yeah..It's a 351 Cleveland with an FMX transmission. It has a new TCI torque converter.

Valve occilation. AODs do it too. I would not worry about it. FMXs are a different breed. Consider upgrading to a more modern box like the 4R70W

So basically the best fix for the noise is to turn up the radio?! I can handle that. Thanks for the information.

Hey, I know you PM'ed me about this, did you add more fluid? My FMX fluid level was over the mark and it was still making the buzzing sound. Add about another quart and see if that doesn't help. From the way you described, mine was doing the exact same thing. And being that it is more prominent in cold and not hearing anything in park, looks like it all points to fluid level. Maybe it is just something with the FMX that you have to overfill. My C6 buzzed after I started to fill it then once it got to the mark it stopped. Try that and let me know.
