I switched from a C4 to a brand new T5 and I was reving without any indication of what I was doing. Now that I have a tachometer (this one: http://mustangunlimited.com/itemdy00.asp?T1=MMT86+01 and it fits perfectly) I realize that I was under estimating my car

Funny facts:

- I am doing 2k rpm at 70mph on 5th gear (2.79)
- 3k rpm is what I was considering high before
- For now I cannot rev higher than 5k, just because I am so used to shift too early [8D]

Anyway, I love it

just keep in mind that the old V8s dont behave like the newer engines. they dont need to rev as high to make power and cast pistons/cranks are heavy stuff to lug around! dont over do it!

And if you float valves you may destroy the engine. Nothing beats the sound of a small block screaming in the rpm though.

Yea I swapped out my C4 for an AOD and threw on a tach, and went from 3200 to go 70 mph with the C4, to 2100 to do the same speed with the AOD. The tach has slightly altered the way I drive as well, I tend to get into it a bit more now that I know where I'm at with the rpm.

Also remember you have a over drive tranny now so highway speeds your runing a lower rpm which is good easier on the engine and less fuel used.

Don't get me wrong, I am not talking about reving like crazy!

It's just that usually when you don't see what you are doing, you'll have a tendency to shift too early

Yea, and I love that it uses less fuel. Easier on the wallet.
