Modern V6
why would you want to do that??? a V6 in a classic is way not cool in my opinion. Dont choose the 4.0 OHC motor out of a late model stang (or explorer, or ranger; they are the same engine) because they have major timing chain problems. There are a total of 3 timing chains; one runs from the crank to a dummy shaft (where a regular cam would be), one runs from that dummy shaft to one cam in front of the engine, and the last one runs from the dummy shaft to the other cam in the BACK of the engine. So guess what. When the timing chain tensioners break and go bad (and beleive me they will), you will have to pull the engine back out to fix them. Oh, and they dont have any keyways or anything, the gears are all "clamped" into place by just tightening the bolt. It takes special tools to time one, and they cost $400 for the set, if you do all of the labor yourself. Like I said, Im not one for V6 stangs, but if you do it, dont use a 4.0 SOHC. I would reccommend a supercharged 3.8 out of an early 90s Thunderbird supercoupe. They make awesome power in stock form, and are faily easy to come by for a very reasonable price. Just my 2 cents worth.
