Yes, another rear end question.
Ok after searching I know it has been done to death on t but i have a question about rear differentials..I couldn't find what I needed to know..
I know there is Open/traction lock (posi), and Locked rear ends but how exacly can you tell the difference between the posi, and lockers short of pulling them out.
My car is pretty loud so I doubt if I had a locker I would hear it. I know I either have posi or a locker because both wheels will spin.
I jack the back of my stang up put it in netural and spun the driver side tire and the passenger one spun it the same direction with it. I tried blocking the passenger tire (put a big brick under it) and tried my hardest to spin the drivers side one but it wouldn't budge. I also spun the wheel the opposite way and both tires spun that way together too. I don't know if any of this information is relevent but I figured I would include it just incase.
So, any information as a way to find out what I have, or if anyone knows by what I stated please let me know. thanks.

The only way to find out for sure is to pull it apart, however often times with a locker it is not just the sound you can also feel the ratcheting especially when tightly cornering so chances are you have a trac-lock or a washer job
+1 if it were a locker you would know any time you turned a slow speed corner like pulling into a parking lot. you feel it and its real obvious. If you didnt know what it was youd think there is something pretty wrong in the back of your car[:-]
Actually, there is a way to tell if its a detroit. It takes two people and your rear tires up in the air.....

its about half way down the page with some pics on how to do it. I know thats a 4x4 site, but they all work the same. I did that test after I converted mine to a 31 spline earlier this year.
