Default 9in rear end

What types of ford vehicles are a dirrect bolt in for a 9 in rear end swap?

I have a 1972 Mach 1 and I need to get a 9in rear end for it. I have tried to look it up on the internet with no luck.[>:] A little help would be appreciated. Oh and all the leafspring crap, gear size stuff, spline info and yolk talk (whatever that means) would be nice also.

Remember I am a chick and I am not a expert mechanic.[>:] However you don't need to talk in "dumb talk" cause I have several great mechanics just a moments notice away. So type away and I will just hit the print button.

Thanks for your help.

Theres http://www.perogie.com/Rears.htm and http://www.ilovemymustang.com/ http://www.mustangjunkyard.com/ and http://www.mustangmasters.com/ get a housing only and replace all the bearings and seals then build it up how it is needed.Every thing else needed http://www.mustangdepot.com/ and any other mustang part house will carry.

Ok Thanks for the links.

I would still like to know the types of vehicles I can pull a 9in rear end out of that will work with my Mach. I have plenty of salvage yards to choose from around here and there are rearends that show up for sale also (just nothing Mustang since we have so many rebuilt ones).[&:] I can probably get it cheaper local then to have one shipped from across the U.S.

I do appreciate the parts sites though so I can order parts needed.

Heres a chart http://dfwmotorsport.com/Fairlane/9inchrearends.htm and and how to tell a 8 inch and 9 inch apart http://www.ridgenet.net/%7Ebiesiade/Fordrears.html good luck the 71-73 is a wide car not many other cars out there rear end will fit it and there old so most junkyards won't have one.

A truck one would work as long its not to wide and the spring perchs are in the spots they need to be.

Oooo....trucks that would be good. I will have to measure them, but now that I know what I need to look for it makes it much easier.

Hey racin66 How are you? How is the restoration going?[&:]
