My 1965 A Code Coupe on eBay *UPDATE! SOLD!!*
Sweet! Now just hope that whomever wins it in the end actually pays you! I know people who have listed the same car 3 and 4 times only to have the "winner" backout after seeing it, never showing up or simply never get back to you.
You are absolutely right about the fake bidder being illegal. It's called " shill bidding " and it is usually a crime. For example if you are offering an item without reserve only to have a buddy bid on it like this, both of you are prosecutable under most state statutes. If on the other hand you have someone " run the bid " up to the reserve, but not beyond, it is very unlikely that you would be prosecuted.
The bottom line is that it's unethical, sometimes illegal and always just really bad business. As a professional auctioneer I like to play it straight always. Then you don't have to worry about being prosecuted or worse yet, sued.

It jumped $1500 on one bid? You can let the cat out of the bag now. Was the reserve 9 or 10?

I also posted it on the ebay auction for everyone to see. It was about a half hour later that guy bid 10k. Apparently he wants it... regardless... I'm mucho happy it at least hit that.
I AM however hoping that the flurry the last 2 minutes or whatever will hit and it will go a little above the 10k... I'd love to see 12+
