Sweet! Now just hope that whomever wins it in the end actually pays you! I know people who have listed the same car 3 and 4 times only to have the "winner" backout after seeing it, never showing up or simply never get back to you.

It jumped $1500 on one bid? You can let the cat out of the bag now. Was the reserve 9 or 10?

Wait until the last 5 minutes for the last ditch effort to buy it. I never bid on anything until I see 20 seconds or less.

You are absolutely right about the fake bidder being illegal. It's called " shill bidding " and it is usually a crime. For example if you are offering an item without reserve only to have a buddy bid on it like this, both of you are prosecutable under most state statutes. If on the other hand you have someone " run the bid " up to the reserve, but not beyond, it is very unlikely that you would be prosecuted.

The bottom line is that it's unethical, sometimes illegal and always just really bad business. As a professional auctioneer I like to play it straight always. Then you don't have to worry about being prosecuted or worse yet, sued.

Actually dude... look up about 4 posts from your post... I told everyone that the reserve was 10k earlier today... like about noon.

I also posted it on the ebay auction for everyone to see. It was about a half hour later that guy bid 10k. Apparently he wants it... regardless... I'm mucho happy it at least hit that.

I AM however hoping that the flurry the last 2 minutes or whatever will hit and it will go a little above the 10k... I'd love to see 12+

Agreed!! Great reply... Yeah I remember there being a big scandle about that a few years ago. People were doing the no reserve auctions then having friends or co-workers run it up higher and higher. If I remember right I think it was also dealerships doing it as well?
