Default Air Filter Size

I had an aftermarket air filter assembly where the filter measured 14" across x 3" tall I just bought a generic Bosch replacement filter element but it's only about 2" tall...

Is there a rule of thumb regarding how much surface area your air filter should have compared to the motor?

Thanks!

Default RE: Air Filter Size

more performance and more revs requires more air.on a stock/mild 351 the generic one will work fine
