Bonded lower front fender patch is installed
See first reply for the pictures. MF said they uploaded successfully but when I posted I got a "Size Problem" message. Sheesh, everyone's a critic!
This is my lower front fender patch installed yesterday. The typical part of the fender was eaten away and was patched with aluminum and 1/2 inch of bondo by the PO. This is the patch available from NPD. It actually runs from the wheelwell all the way back so I just cut off the front of it. The lower inner brace was gone too. You can see the new one from NPD sitting in place (not attached) in one of the photos. One photo is the fender hanging back on the car but not attached or lined up (hence, the gap to the door and rocker). You can see it will be a pretty good fit. This patch was attached with Evercoat Maxim Panel Bond and overlaps inside the fender about four inches forward and about two inches at the top. The holes you see are from the sheet metal screws I used to hold the patch during cure. I'll fill those with some JB Weld or similar product. The inside brace will be attached with Panel Bond and screws. I can leave the screws in place since it will not be visible and that will add strength. The brace patch takes some cutting to fit right. They left a lot of extra material at the back edge. The skin patch was not bad but I had to sharpen up the little "step down" contour...it was too rounded.

Actually, I am getting pretty good at these bonded patches. This was number seven. There will be at least a number eight (other front fender). If anyone wants to try it and needs some help, just let me know. The real key is fit. Make it fit perfectly no matter how many times you have to test fit. It's also important to get clean metal...and I mean clean. The kind of clean you get by sanding to shiny metal and then cleaning with detergent, rinsing and then wiping down with rubbing alcohol. I also use a heavy grit (60) to leave enough scuff in the metal for the panel bond to grab onto.
