Default Painting Emblems

I don't remember who on this forum suggested using the little brush bottles of touch up paint for my emblems but, whoever it was...thanks. Worked great. The one on the left looked like the one on the right before painting. I know I can buy new ones but I am trying to keep every original part I can since the car was all original when I bought it. I used the Duplicolor paint. No particular color...just a bright red and bright blue. The little brush is very precise and the paint is thin enough to get into the grooves without filling them in. Being car paint, it should take the weather OK. For prep all I did was wash them in Dawn Orignal dish detergent. It removes grease and oil better than most other detergents. It's supposed to be great for stripping wax too.

are you switching the colors around? Or are they supposed to be that way. The blue is on the front of the horse on one and the back on the other. looks good though.

No. This is the way they were and the paint was original. You're right though - they do reverse. Probably supposed to be (from left) Red White Blue no matter which side of the car they are on - unless someone at Ford had a few beers for lunch before he went back to his emblem painting job.

Just a suggestion, I cleaned and smoothed the chrome on the emblems with a dremmel wire disk attached to my 90` air polisher. It made it shine like new. Try this before you paint, then polish. They will look great!

When I had to do mine, I thought for a while, then asked my wife to get me some nail polish. She got me Red, White and Blue to match the ford colors and it worked great!!! I can even remove it easily with nail polish remover when I want to freshen it up (though I haven't had to do it yet, and it's been almost four years since I did it).

Duplicolor - probably available from any auto parts store. I was not picky about the actual color and just chose a bright red and a bright blue without even looking at the actual paint name. Turns out the red is GM 519 General Motors Victory Red and the blue isCC 422Chrysler Intense Blue Pearl.
