Default U-Bolt installation tricks

Hello all,

Finally got my new leaf springs today.

Anyway after struggling for a couple of hours I still have one you bolt left to put on. ARGH!!!!

Does anyone have any tricks they would like to share for putting on new U-Bolts and getting them to go in the holes in the lower bracket?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

what's your problem? If i remember my bolts were a tad wider than my bracket. I just used a clamp to squeeze them in the little bit and used my impact. it work perfectly for me.

Try squeezing them SLIGHTLY with a pair of Channel Locks and test fit the distance from the bottom side. They are a pain if the threaded ends dont line up close enough to the holes in the plate. You dont have much leverage with the housing inside the U bolt so its easier to rework them first for a better fit.
Just dont over do it.

FWIW
Good Luck.

Ahh. A new day, a fresh attitude, and I finally got the fourth u-bolt into the bracket. Rear-end is back under the car where it belongs again. With some luck I might actually get to drive the car again this weekend. Woohoo.
