Default Almost ready to sell

News is calling for a beautiful day in Baltimore. So I figure it would be a great day to take my baby to work. Half way there she starts sputtering, making weird clicking noises and backfiring. Then as I pull into the lot the horn starts blaring (Love /Hate my Grant Steering Wheel).

On days like today I wonder if it's worth it. I'll feel different next week, but today, not so much feeling the love.

dont give in.

what the problem is the fact that you need is a 5.0 EFI conversion.

i know your car is very super original.

but id rather loose an I6 original, to an classic mustang enthusiast.

Sounds kind of like it is all electrical. Trace out circuts to stuff.

If that engine has never been rebuilt, maybe it's time. Your looking at 42 years on that engine.

It has not been rebuilt and I drive it harder than the three "old guys" who owned it before me ever did. I don't kill her but my Dad never took her over 55 in the 12 years he had her. I am a little concerned that something major went bad as it ran fine out of the garage and then started acting bad after a hard acceleration.

I don't have the knowledge to rebuilt it myself and if it needs that I would rather drop in a 289. Of course that entails the suspension work which I don't have in the budget. If I can just get my daughter to drop out of college that would free up some much need Mustang Cash.

Could the timing chain have slipped? I've had that happen before on a hard acceleration. It sputters, misses and generally you think you screwed it up big time. The vibration could have caused the horn problem.

I thought maybe the timing chain had jumped.

I got pissed late last night look and took a look. The last "stud nub" on my cylinder head was snapped off by a PO. There is a jury rigged bolt holding the headers to the head. With the nub snapped off the gasket doesn't seat/seal properly. It blew out right there so now I am sucking cold air into my headers. It happened once before and I hoped it was just a bad gasket. Now thats it's happened again I know I need to replace the damn head.
