First thing you wanna do is check to see what your local state laws are in regards to tinting. Some are fairly liberal while others are damned strict. Some states don't allow ANY tinting on the front side windows at all.

I have been thinking of re-tinting my windows because the stuff on my windows isn't very dark and looks like crap since it is older than dirt.

If memory serves in Texas there are different amounts allowed for the back verse side windows.

Thanks for the reminder I need to look into that.

I laughed someone above mentioning having to look out the window to back up at night. Back in high school I had an '80 Trans Am that didn't have much back window to begin with but with dark tint...I got really good at backing up with my head out the window at night...LOL!

I am undecided about tiniting on these classics. Tinting is mandatory on any new car or SUV but the classics are a different animal. I agree it depends on the color of the car and how dark you go. I am throwing around the ideer of tinting mine too. The body guy says do it. My wife says do it. But I am torn. Torn like an old sweater of this.

Well thats why I was thinking about the silver tint.

It has to be done carefully.. If its too reflective then its going to look terrible. My car is white and the windows naturally have a silver glare to them. I think if I went with a 60% silver or just enough to so its noticeable but still looks natural it would be nice.

why does everyone have pictures of tint in the rain?!

should we not be taking pics of tint in the sun where it counts?!

jk of course.

metal militia, as for tint on a mustang all i have to say is i dont think they had 17"s back in the day!

my dad says when tint first came out they went crazy for it, he says it was dark enough that you needed to stick your head out the window to back up. tahat was back in the early 70s

I went outside real fast to take a pic of my car. Its been raining since friday. Its the first one I take of it since I put the tint. I just noticed my date on the camera is off. lol [:@]

I have 35% on my dd, but I hate it cuz it doesn't block much of the sun and everybody can see inside, you. I used to have 20% until I got pulled over and was given a ticket, had to take it off so I replaced it with 35%. That's why I know that In south Texas 25% or lower is illegal.

go as dark as possible.

some will say its dumb. but thats just my opinion.
i think legal is 15% or is it 20?

im getting 5% on mine, say what you will. it wont bother me. its way to hot in florida.
it depends on the state. Florida is perfectly legal to do 20% if not more.

Iowa and Illinois i know are anything on the backs, but nothing on the front 2 doors.

I personally think on a classic 50% would look nice, its enough but not crazy. ive had 20% on my monte & grand prix but got hassled to much for it so i took it off the doors
