Default smooth rear interior quarter panels

I saw someone on this forum post some pics of their ( I believe 67 or 68) burnt orange mustang. They had the rear interior quarter panels smoothed over. (instead of the textured finish that they come with) I was wondering if anyone knew his sn so I could ask him how he did it. I was told that you would have to use body filler. Is there any other way? I have never used body filler before. Any ideas? Thanks

You could put on a heavy coat of high build primer and sand it down if you dont want to do a skim coat of bondo. Bondo is easy to use though.

I will be smoothing mine soon, the doors too. I will just sand them smooth, I would be afraid the bondo would crack from arms hitting the panels.

you arent putting enough bondo to worry about cracking. You are only trying to fill in the texture. That is why I said you could use a high build primer. That might be you r easiest way.

Where can I buy this high build primer? What makes the high build primer different from normal primer?

you buy it at an auto motive paint store. It is used when doing your body work. It goes on a little thicker so that you can sand it down to remove sanding marks and other minor imperfections. Use it whenyou are blocking your car down for a smoother finish. It is much easier to sand than bondo

heres some pics......everyone already answered. Its a high build primer. Good luck, it well worth it for the end result. I used the high build on the doors as well. Sorry about the small pic but the uploader still is on the brink

rst08tierney how often do you drive yoru car? how does teh paint hold up to abuse by passengers, it looks awesome and i wouldnt mind doing somthing similar but mine is a daily driver and im worried that a smooth shiny finish would get chipped or scratched much easier.
