What all is involved in stroking an engine? I am thinking about stroking my I6 since it is already bored.

Normally, it's any combination of changing the journal configuration of the crankshaft (to produce a longer stroke), shorter (or longer) piston rods, and pistons with a reduced (or longer) side height.

By creating a "longer" strokefor the piston (the top of the piston goesfurther away from the cylinder head),you create more cubic inches.

As I've said before, you really don't need to be thinking about these kinds of things. Read, learn and plan. When the time is right.... in your case after college/school, you'll be better equipped to carry out any plans you may have come up with. Keep in mind that 98% of the people posting herehave other modes of transportation. A major project on your car would leave you bumming rides for an unknown length of time. My'66 has been torn apart(again) for the last couple weeks. Maybe I'll get a chance to work on it this week, but right now it's not looking so good. That's okay though as I have 8 othervehicles in the driveway that I can drive. You have 1 car. Keep it running, don't tear it apart or you will regret it. Every Mustang I've ever bought was from some guy who took it apart to fix it one day and5 years later it was still sitting there disassembled.

Well right now the future of this car is unknown. I am watching a 68 vert that was impounded. They are holding it at a local junkyard. Once they are going to sell it my 67 is going up. I want this vert and my parents say I can get it if I sell my car.

Hey BA,

Davesanbone is harsh, rude, cold and funny a lot of the time.LOL
Glad hes here keeps me smiling.
I doesnt mean he is wrong. lol
I agree that a realistic view of any this or your potential convertible need to be a 2nd car.

I used my 66 as my main car for a few years it did fine....... Untill I started messing with it. Adding new heads and a hot cam and 4 barrel carb boosted the power up quite a bit.
Then the trans went out. fixed that then the drivshaft broke. Fixed that now the engine runs hot time for a new radiator. Good everything is great now the power meets the road....
I need better brakes. Get were we are going here? Theses are old cars everything is old and seen better days.

Dont let that stop you just pick up a good beater that starts and makes it to work/ school everyday and have your Mustang for the fun project car.

Learn as much as you can keep asking questions but be prepared for some hash answers now and then.
Its a great place to get you Mustang education of of my and everyone elses mistakes and money spent advice.
Wish I would have had this kinda thing when I started building cars 25 years ago! lol

As someone whose project car is their only car (I have a Vespa scooter for around town now, but that's a new thing, and still won't get me to school), I think it can be done I wouldn't go tearing down your engine without a backup vehicle (my engine rebuild took about a year), but you can get a fair amount done as long as the vehicle is driveable to begin with and you're willing to work on it yourself. It's not cheap, practical, or easy, but it's doable.Occasionally I have to bum rides, and I biked to work for a month last year when I had to swap out a destroyed cam, but I make do

Bite your lip, close your eyes....

In order to build a stroker someone has to make parts for a stroker. You would be hard pressed to find a stroker crank for use in a i6 anyway.

Do a search on the inline 300.
They are stroking those and s/c fast lil buggers.
I new a guy in a falcon club that had one with f150 300 a Vortex huffer it would give most 5.0s a beating.

Yes I see google results for a 300? not the 200? Not sure what the difference between the 2 blocks is but I suppose I stand corrected in so far as there are i6 strokers available in some form.
