Digital Rev Limiter question

RE: Digital Rev Limiter question
Hi everyone, I have a rev limiter in the hyfire box. This limiter just keeps me from going pass the blowup point of engine. I have a 4R70W automatic trans with overdrive controlled by a electronic Compushift Control Box, with key pad. This gives me a lower first gear and a overdrive for the highway. The key pad is used to change the hardness of the shift, and the speed of the shift. I have a 430 rear gear which brings me to high rev real fast. I normally just leave it in drive and the box shifts quicker than I can, but if I pull it into low I know that I can't over rev because of the rev limiter will keep me honest. The rev limiter will not let you over spin the engine. This is a very good piece of equipment if you are racing at the 1/4 mile, SCCA, or or any other tracks.

OK, so then I will assume I can dial in any max RPM I want. How does it work? In other words, since it is hooked up to the electrical system, how does it limit the max rev?

RE: Digital Rev Limiter question
Some rev limiters are also found in the distibutors such as Crane and afew more. Rev limiters function by cutting of the electricial power to the distributor once you reach the max limit that you set. It will cut power till the rpm drops by 200 to 300 rpm some might go to 400 rpm. There are alot of different high rev limiters on the market.
