Default Which manifold?

Which manifold would you prefer as an upgrade to the stock manifold?

I voted for one that's not listed, the Performer RPM. The standard Performer isn't much more than a lighter stock manifold. The RPM is designed to work with a more aggressive cam at a higher RPM.

I chose the Edelbrock RMP Air-Gap. If clearance permits.. I dont think its that much taller than the typical aftermarket intake mani.

I have an air gap and a 1 inch spacer with a k+n air cleaner and I can still close the hood

It depends on what the rest of your engine build and rear gear ratio are. I have had three different intakes on the same engine. Ported heads with 1.94 and 1.50 valves. 10.9:1 compression and a 288 duration .465 lift cam. The Performer RPM and the old F4B intake were about the same peaking around 5,500-6,000RPM with a 750 Holley. The best mid to high RPM power it ever had was with a Holley Street Dominator. The low end was not much less than the other two and it would pull another 1,000 RPM before fading.

So if you run some engine mods, 3.50:1 or more rear and a higher stall convertor if you have an auto then go for the single plane intakes. If you are pretty much stock get a Performer RPM and a small carb.

Yeah, I was reading somewhere that the Edelbrock Performer is nothing more than a stock manifold that's made out of aluminum, and that there a whole bunch better manis out there.
