Tunes?
What sound system do you have in your car? What´s your set-up like?
I wanted to keep the original look, so I kept my orig Philco AM-FM. It´s boosted by a 300W amp tucked in the trunk, and I have 2 small stereo speakers that fit in the front middle, and 2 6x9s on the package shelf. I use my iPod with an iTrip and the sound is great. One day when I restore my dash again (last time was 16 years ago) I will figure out a way to install an iPod jack to the Philco.
With the amp, that old tuner sounds just as good as a new stereo. If I really want to, I could also hook up an external equalizer, but the internal EQ in the iPod does the trick for now.
The whole shebang cost under $150 (less iPod and iTrip)

Since it was my mom's first car in high school and through college, she had the factory stereo replaced and added some 6x9's in the package tray when she got it, then again in '93 when we moved it up to wyoming. Since we didn't have the original radio, I didn't have a problem putting another aftermarket one in there (since we've kept the rest of the car original for the most part). I put in an Alpine CDA-9883, and replaced the speakers with a good set of Kenwoods. When we put the stuff in about midway through last year I think I payed $250 for the HU and about $150 for the speakers. No amps or subs at all, but it has more than enough power that I never turn the volume past 17 when cruising at 70mph+ with the windows down, and it sounds nice too.

Nabster, that makes me hurt
At least it's a replaceable bezel... I like resto's little housing. Pretty nifty, and it matches the interior.
I'm using a pos stereo my friend gave to me that he ripped out of an old Volvo he picked up, just happened to have adjustable width ***** on it. At some point I'll get the aftermarket bezel designed for full-width decks. I'd love an original AM/FM, but it'd cost me a fortune. I may consider settling for an AM/8-track

Currently, once I get my car back out of the shop, I just have the sound of the engine.
But since I work for Best Buy part-time, I have found a few nice speaker options for my car. I don't want a big sound system in it...just a nice one.
We'll see once I get it out what I'll do.

Don't worry about the bezel, it's one of the $20 plastic repros, opened up with a dremel to fit the din radio ala 4reboy ($100 for one premade with the din opening is ridiculous). It snaps in and out if needed. I wouldn't dare have touched it if it were an original, but since the original was already gone it was just easier to stay with aftermarket bits. I'd have been happy with an original or an 8-track player as well. I've got a pile of 8-tracks over behind me right now with my stereo system in my room that I listen to.

I'm sure yours works though, I still havn't finished my radio, but I'm installing my speakers now so it should be up and running soon! I would post one of my pics but it looks just like nabster'sand as for my entire setup, I've got a 10" sony sub in the trunk with a custom box that I made, and I'm gonna have my two 6x9's in the trap door (PO cut holes out already so I figured I would fill it with new speakers [:@]) and 5.25" speakers in the kick panels. and I got a small like 300w amp or something like that, just enough to power my sub I don't need much.
I have a working 8-track player complete with a box of tapes behind the passenger seat. It adds to the "cool factor" of the car by a magnitude of 10. I found a small 300w motorcycle amp on ebay and connected it up under the center consol along with a couple 180w kick panel speakers along with some 6x9's in the aft end.
I wasn’t really looking for a high fidelity sound being that 8-track sound really sucks compared to an ipod or CD. Even if I do get to hear the music over the motor sound, I turn down so that I can hear the engine wind and for weird noises. I kinda like to catch bad stuff before it gets horribly bad.
