67 Rearview Mirror
I am trying to attach the rear view mirror to its bracket in my 67 convertible. The mirror will not stay facing forwards because the tab on the mirror that fits into the bracket is too thin and allows the mirror to rotate downwards. Is there any piece I'm missing? Both the bracket and the mirror are from NPD. Thanks in advance!
I purchased the bracket and mirror from NPD also. A little plastic washer fit in the bracket before the screw used to hold the mirror. My mirror also fit loosely but I needed the mirror installed or I could not get inspected. I started to tighten it down to see ifI could make it work. I found theplastic washer pushed through the screw hole to fill thegap between the mirror mounting point and the bracket. I've had it on now with 6 months but with no trouble.
When I installed the bracket, it seemed like the one deep screw hole to the roof was the correct size before the piece was chromed. The original screws and the new screws which came with the mirror would not fit. I'm curious if you have the same trouble. I called NPD about it and they stated no one had reported the issue before.

Thanks, that thick white washer fixed the problem. I also had trouble using the factory screw in the rearmost hole on the bracket. I ended up just grinding the head of the screw a little to make it fit.
I did the same with the screw so it would work. I was tempted to return the bracket as NPD stated they had never heard anyone state the hole was too small. After hearing of your experience, I am glad I did not as I probably would have received a replacement with the same problem.
