Here is my last link on this subject but if you start a thread about the issue I will gladly participate. I do not want to hijack this thread with my political views or opinions.

Now ed, please... you are the one who threw the 1st stone by accusing me of sour grapes and making "liberal" statements. The reason I "opened up a little" and spewed a few bromides your way, an activity I do not relish, is that I do not appreciate being accused of spreading lies. And, as I have proved, I did not lie!!!

You stated quite clearly that:

<1> I used "liberal" sources of information. I proved you wrong. The US DOE, Fox News, Reuters News and the Wall ST. Journal are not considered "liberal" by any strectch of the imagination.

<2> What I stated were lies. I backed up every single statement with credible "conservative" sources. Just because these facts contradicted your perception of what "conservative" facts and opinions are, you "knee-jerk" accused me of stating lies... and I proved you wrong. My statements were true and their sources were conservative!

BTW, your link above is to a Republican "opinion" source... not a news agency or Government website where scholarly activity is reported. It is the equivalent of a Democratic opinion site (like the Daily Kos) that "interprets and spins news stories" but rarely reports on them. Your link offers opinions, not reporting. Can you appreciate the distinction??? Distinguishing opinion from reporting? I realize that Fox News since its inception has blurred the line between the two (thus their terrible reputation in news circles and the reason they are increasingly the source of jokes.).

For what it is worth, while I am a strong fiscal conservative, I do not consider the term "liberal" a pejorative like you so. Quite frankly, there are many more liberal intellectuals than conservative! I have a lot of both conservative and liberal friends. Each has both good and bad ideas and opinions... IMHO.

But when it comes to "good government" there are plenty of both liberals and conservatives who have plenty of commonality such that their differences are not that important. We all want honest good government.... and both Republicans and Democrats have conspired to prevent this! I did not think any president could be more corrupt than Bill Clinton.... Bush and Cheney proved me very wrong.

As for the present Bush administration, both "true" conservatives and liberals alike agree... it has been a disasterous 7.5 years. Bruce Fein, former Reagan US Attorney and the author of the articles of impeachment against Bill Clinton
has pushed for over a year now for impeaching both Bush and Cheney. He agrees completely with noted liberal Democrat Dennis Kucinich on the reasons for impeachment. I have heard Republican strategists lament the tarnishing of the Republican "brand" by the Bush administration. And I have to agree with them.

We are in 2 wars (one of which was based upon lies), the economy stinks and unemployment rose again last month, we are in a housing recession, solid compaines cannot secure loans because of the credit crisis and this is a huge drag on the economy offsetting any stimulus from the recent tax rebates we received. The gap between rich and poor is the greatest it has been since the great depression and we have a record number of foreclosures. The leading cause of bankruptcy now is unpaid medical bills. The future of both social security and Meidcare are not looking so good - just check out former head comptroller David Walker's speeches and you will see how bad things look fiscally. Our 10 Trillion dollar debt is a fiscal time bomb lurking in the future. It increasingly looks like our leaders instituted a system of torture and may be guilty of war crimes. The Bush administration has lost an unprecedented 5 cases before the conservative supreme court regarding the detainees and this is another source of embarrassment for them, both domestically and internationally. Army brass repeatedly stated that our ground forces are "broken". We have relaxed our military admission policies to now enlist former criminals and physically unfit volunteers. Our international standing is at an all time low and Bush is despised almost everywhere in the world. After 911, the world supported us but Bush squandered that goodwill. Bush politicized the DOJ and fired US attorneys for not pursuing bogus charges on Democratic candidates... this is illegal. There is already a lawsuit filed against the DOJ over their hiring practices. Monica Goodling and Kyle Sampson will likely face civil lawsuits, too. That's enough for now.

Lastly, I am secure with my sources of information. Frankly, I do not care if they come from Conservative or Liberal sources. If they appear accurate and make sense then I accept them until they are proven incorrect. Thats the way I roll. Back in the 80s I told people that "I did not leave the Democratic party but the Democratic party left me." Now, I suspect it will be a long time before I vote for a Republican. We had total control of the house, senate and presidency from 2001 to 2007... and blew it badly! Both Ron Paul and Ralph Nader now make more sense than any of the major candidates. This is a sign that change is needed!

I find it amazing [sm=jawdrop.gif]how a simple question of any nature on this site almost turns into a full-blown virtual war. This is a classic car forum, not a political forum. I came here to learn more about cars, I can learn about politics from turning on the news. Having said that. It is fun to see both sides bashing their opponents.

Mustdoc I want to debate you on this issue but not in this thread. I openly admit I started it but this thread is about whether to keep or sell a mustang and in my opinion he should take it to Germany and drive it until he wants something else then sell it at a huge profit. I also suggest while he is there that he saves all of his money in euros for the time being. That way its value does not continue to tumble. If you want to debate gas and oil etc. start a thread and I will join it. I spend hours in political forums and would really like to discuss the issue.
