Put a new fuel pump on it today, and low and behold same thing. Dies after running for 30 minutes then won't start back up.

Puled the plugs, they were disgusting , all black, and covered in OIL. EVERY SINGLE ONE.

How can I know if it is bad valve guids/heads or bad piston rings?

Sounds like your oil rings or compression rings might be bad, I'm not 100% sure though so get a second or third opinon.

sounds like rings.

The engine might be dying because the plugs become too soaked in oil to work or heat is passing by the rings a heating up the crank case too much....which may cause vapor lock if i remember correctly.

You need to run a compression test on all cylinders and write them down

holy crap youve been here for 3 days and you already have 43 posts?? lol postwhore.

as for the OP's engine, how many miles are on it? is it original? best bet would be a rebuild like you said. if its got a significant amount of miles, then you should rebuild the whole thing rather than just a valve job with new seals.

Plese don't tell me that you guys are equating post counts with actual knowledge?

If that's the case, some of you'all have way too many posts.

great, something else negative from dave. you seem to be getting on a lot of users bad side lately.

and thats kind of the point to post counts. to show experience. when someone new shows up, they are able to see who has how many posts. which right off the bat tells them that that person gives a lot of input or is a very active member. and might have some valuble information. otherwise thered be no point to show the post counts.

andrewmp5 and 67mustang302 my77stang all have a lot of posts. so id most likely trust their knowlegde if i was asking a question. but if someone with only a few posts tries to answer, id be more hesitent in believing them since i wasnt familiar with them.

its how forums work guy.

hey hey hey, everyone settle down. good grief, do you not remember the thread not that long ago started by Waffles talking about how the classic section was the most mature, everone was nicer here and that it scared the hell out of him to go into the other sections because all they do is bicker, and flame each other? Thats exactly what seems to be happening here now. Fine, some people dont like Dave, I am sure Dave doesn't like some people, and I am sure some people dont like me. Oh well, such as life, but please lets not resort to arguments online. True66gt you are a valuable member of this forum, just as davesanborn is. So can we leave the arguments for OT please?

OK, back to OP: Don't know for sure on the mileage, Odometer reads like 88500 or so but I dont know how many (if any) times it has rolled over. Its not original, found out it is out of a 68 Thunderbird, or Falcon, i cant remember now.
GunJam, thats exactly what I was thinking, and by I, I mean my dad of course

What do you guys think, rebuild, just replace what NEEDS replaced, or buy a crate engine
