It may be because of my original suspension, but I can barley fit 235/60R16s in the rear. They get sliced by fenders when I get a good bump.

Here are pics of the front and rear. The rears have damage so you will be able to tell the rear. That is with 245/50R16. I have gone to 235/60R16 and they still slice into them, except they slice the tread instead of the sidewall. my fronts are 205/60R16

235 55 17 is too tall for a classic mustang.
The better fit is a 235 45 17.

This is the problem with take offs.

You buy the wheels and tires for $400.
Then you buy the adaptors (spacers) to make them work properly for $150
Then you buy the news tires for them for $150-200 each (assuming you went performance) after you find out the stock tires don't fit the car.
Before you know it....you have $550 in the wheels and $800 in the tires....when you went into the deal thinking "I don't have enough money to spend $1200-$1600 on new wheels and tires for the car so I'll buy these takes offs cheap for $400 and save a grand".

You can get 235/45R17s for 84 a piece.

I have these for my rear tires. Ultra High Performance Summer tire. If you want the all season high performance use the HTR+

I have those wheels on my car. Well I had those wheels on my car.. You need a 1.5 inch spacer in the front and back or a 1.25 in the rear like mine. It tucks the rear wheel in a little more.. I had problems with the tire rubbing the front valance on the inside at about 3/4 turn, which made it a pain in the butt in parking lots and any U turns. It had the turning radius of a semi.. So I changed out the 235 55's on the front for some 235 45's and it fits just fine. I will however probably go to a 245 45 / 255 50 set of tires when these wear out. Here is a pic of the wheels and tires before I put the 235 45's on the front. I loved the look of the meaty front tire though. Now I need to drop the front end a little to get rid of the space between the tire and fender. Posting a pic..

Also.. I forgot to add that even with the 1.5 inch spacer you will proably need to take the rim balancing weight off of the inner side of the wheel and use the little flat sticky weights to balance it instead. The upper A arm will hit the hammer on weight.

Ask how I know.. lol.

OH and another note .. the only reason I went with these wheels is because I got a great deal on them.. and I traded the front 235 55's for some 235 45's in the same shape.. My total cost was about $400
