Default engine problem

I just finished a total rebuild of '65 Mustang 289, A code. Professional block bore, boiled out, magnafluxed, cylinder head rebuild, crank line bore, etc, etc. Reassembly went well, I've rebuilt many engines (Ford 312, Ford 215, BMW, Jaguar, etc.) and all was ok. But when I go to start the engine for the first time, it started okay, I shut it down after running about a minute and a half to check things over and I find that the oil pan is full of white, foamy oil. About 3.5 quarts of antifreeze pumped into the oil pan and now I'm short of antifreeze in the radiator.

How could that much antifreeze mixture get into the oil pan? It's like it was pumping direct, not just a litlle leak in the headgasket, mind you - this is 3.5 quarts in under 2 minutes!!!!

Any ideas?

Thanks

Hmmmmmm. Are you sure you put the head gasket on? Maybe a crack in the block? Did you have the block checked for cracks before you rebuilt it? That closed system puts quite a bit of pressure on the coolant, and it doesn't take much of a crack for the coolant to be forced into the oil pan.

Magnafluxed = checked for cracks IIRC.
Head gasket oriented correctly...front to front or not upside down?

Yeah, if it was magnafluxed and no cracks were found, then it has to be the head gasket not being put on right.

It could also be an intake manifold gasket leak at the water passage.

True dat, but it has to be a gasket leak somewhere. And a big one.

Thanks for the response. It really baffles me - the block was magnafluxed - aok on that. New head gaskets were installed, oriented properly and in removing them last night, no evidence of leaking past them. They were torqued properly, etc. I give up!!
