Default No Idle?

Hey ive got a 67 200ci auto with a one barrel carb. that seems to not idle anymore... If I take my foot off the gas it will imediatly die, it does it while driving or stopped. So what I have been having to do is shift from drive to neutral and floor it while using my left foot to brake for a stop. So basically no gas gets burned with out putting the pedal down its gotta be the carb right? Anyone have an idea as to what in the carb specifically could make it have no idle? Yes the idle speed is good it ran fine yesterday... Hahaha

blockage in low speed circuit.

disassemble and flush passages with carb cleaner.

i just don't understand why people drive cars that don't even work standing ?!

don't drive that thing

when it starts with throttle pressed, screw in the curb idle screw so that it does not stall.
there must be a point where it keeps running, even with very high idle. so what's the lowest idle you can get that at before it stalls?
at that lowest idle check for vac leaks as suggested above.
Check on choke, check on idle mixture screws. check on ignition timing.

Well good job jlg it is a leak... Between the carb and the intake there is this cheap homemade looking spacer that looks "custom" cut with a knife... I hope thats it though because it has run great in the past like that... The fuel filter before the fuel pump and before the carb and new so they are good. And I drove it because I needed to get to work as its my only car and its not that far of a drive but its definatly out of walking distance... Believe me I was scared to drive it though! Boy this car has been falling apart lately...
