Default 65 vapor lock

Now that the 65 is back up and running after the new clutch was put in her we are having ? distributor or vapor lock problems. She will run a bit then die. Let her cool off a bit then same thing. Ran better with the air cleaner off. The ol man mentioned a old trick using a closepin...another mustang buddy mentioned wrapping tin foil around the fuel line. Thought ideas????? I am begining to think the car doesn't like me, every time I get in it to drive it something goes wrong!!!!!!!

I was once told that a vapor lock is caused by the gas tank not being vented properaly.

Turns out it wasn't vapor lock after all...carb was getting gas. Hubby talked to the fellas at work and they were thinking coil. WRONG, lol...after we got stranded again : ( We are gonna try the condenser tomorrow. His buddy that is and ford man and has a stang said those were notorious for going out.

Checked for vacuum leaks? Does it run rough? What do the plugs look like. Plugs tell you what's going on inside the chamber during combustion.

Plugs look good and they are geting a spark. It's more of a problem when its hot, no roughness otherwise, just all of a sudden dies. Gonna try condenser and look at points when in there today.

Well I think we found the culprit of it running baddly and stranding us. Rust in the fuel line clogging up the fuel filter, but a new fuel filter did not solve the problem. Changed condenser and plugs today also. Guess it was just a concidence of everything happening on a hot day cause today it was cooler and still ran rough and died on us. Found a small leak in the lower radiator hose and the fuel pump so those will get changed this week. Now, lol how do we get the rust outta the tank??????

Rinse it out alot, personally I would replace the tank with a new one and not have to worry about rust or any other gunk in the tank. Just my .02 though.
