Suggestions on minor rust repair?
I’m looking for some guidance on how best (and easily) to repair some minor rust spots in my engine bay. As you can see from the photo I’ve cut out a few of the bad spots and am in the process of creating patch plates. The spots I don’t think I’m skilled enough to patch are where the shock towers meet the frame rail. I was thinking of trying to use lead or lead-free body solder. My concern with this approach is engine temperature melting my patch work. I’ve no idea what kind of temperatures to expect in this area but the lead-free solder that melts at 428 degree. I’m also considering JB Weld since it’s only cosmetic. My concern here would be that it cracks from vibrations while driving.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
Kevin

If it was me I would try to weld in a proper panel rather than trying to use lead or JB weld. You must be somewhat skilled with a welder since you have your front end cut off. Welcome to the forums.
Lead won't fill holes like that. Solder is just for seams and surface leveling. You will have to fill it with fiberglass or metal. I would recommend metal, any thing else is temporary.
You could solder a metal patch if you don't have a welder or Acetyline torch.
