if you are thinking about going for a t10 try a toploader instead they are more popular and easier to find and stonger, and still the proper 4speed for early mustang.
i found a few on ebay rebuilt for 1,100 or so

Yeah look around for a Toploader instead. They can be found for 100 to 350 and rebuild for 1000+. A rebuild kit is like 200 iirc and its not that hard to do. Maybe 2 days if you've never done it before. I lucked into a Toploader for next to nothing w/Hurst shifter and bought the rebuild kit from Toploader Heaven. Mark is great and will assist you via phone or email until you have completed the rebuild. I did a ton of research before buying it from him and I couldn't find a single bad comment online about him or his kits! Everything I read was great. The kit includes a CD with step by step detailed instructions with pictures for every step. Anyone can rebuild a Toploader with his kit.

If it's for the 445rwhp in your sig, F a T5. Toploader for sure. But iirc that thing was turbo charged right ? Meh, keep the auto, easy choice.

i have a complete t-10 out of my 65 vert that was in it for 20 years that had 20,000 miles on a rebuild....did pop out of etheir 2nd or 3rd now and then down shifting! have the DS with new joints,BH,complete orig shifter still mounted and the lockout reverse works perfectly....just haven't desided what to ask for it yet.......i'll think on it.
