Default Ram Air

Is there anyone on here that can give advice on adding Ram Air to my 66 or point me to a place that can? I want a true Ram Air setup...not just a hood scoop.

If you want a simple setup that is not ducted, I made my '69 hood scoop functional and then installed a K&N XStream air filter and lid. It is not great in the rain, but kick ars other than that. The air blows right down on my lid, which is also a cleaner so it flows straight down into the carb.

you're gonna have a heck of a time ducting to the front of the 66. I think your only option is to run low, below the battery or voltage reg. I was thinkin the same on my 66 until I noticed the tight spaces and the need for structural support. Now I'm considering a cold air setup and scoop, be a heck of allot easier.

Ducting maybe be a pita but it will be more effective than the scoop. The factory scoop sits too low and too far back on the hood to really be effective, it sits within the boundary layer of air.

You can move the battery to the trunk and get an alt. with an internal regulator, then the ducts can be placed where these once were. I'm thinking about doing the ram air but the pieces you need add up to about $250 or so, but I guess that's not too bad.

I had considered, in the past, cutting into these headlight extensions on a 65-66 to create a ram air vent, then running the duct to the base assembly... like cvutting into the gills or louvres that already exist on the bucket...

Get a reverse cowl hood and seal the carb off to the cowl.
