Default strange trim package

Hello All
New to the forum and I have a question about my 72 sport roof project car.
This car had a vinyl roof and vinyl on the lower front fender, lower door and rocker panel continuing back all the way on the quarter panel and over the brow of the wheel opening. The vinyl extended into the door opening too. The vin decode doesn't reflect this trim package but I ran into a person the other day that stated that he thought a dealership somewhere back east offered this as a dealer installed package. Anyone that knows any information about this I would very much appreciate your information.
I will try to post a couple of pix to show what I am talking about.
Thanks in advance
Mike Kincheloe

I'd like to see pictures of that myself.

I know that there was a really sweet 67 fastback in a magazine a few years back that had a dealer installed vinyl roof. White roof on a red fastback. Not exactly my speed, but hey, whatever floats the man with the checkbooks boat.

Wouldn't surprise me to see its a dealer installed thing. My owners manual says you could have a TV installed in a '69, so a vinyl trim package isn't too outlandish.

A tv in a '69 in 1969?! Wouldn't that just be a huge burden?

Sounds like a stupid thing to have put on considering these things are huge rust magnets. Glad to hear it's a 72 though!

I posted an album of this car last night. This is a project car probably start on it this winter. I am retired and I restore old cars and trucks. My business name is Mikes Old Trucks and I work out of my home shop. I'm not sure which direction I will go with this car. If the vinyl package is fairly rare I might keep it otherwise I am going to build a custom car that is really fast. Might even put a 429 in it. In any event this is to be my return to the good old days of fast cars and such.

Thanks for responding and take a look at the album and see what you think.
