Default i6 to v8

im in the middle of a i6 to v8 on my 67 coupe, and am slowly getting frustrated with it. If anyone has pictures or some words of encouragement it would be helpful, i also love the car and would like to get it on the road thanks

Its a huge job but CAN BE DONE! I haven't done it myself but there are a few here who have. Keep up with it and get it finished as the feeling of accomplishment you'll have will be overwhelming. Good luck.

At what stage are you currently at? Give some info as to the problems your encountering and perhaps a few pics. Others may be able to give you some assistance from that point.

bought a car that was 6cyl with engine converted to 8cyl.
drove the **** out of drivetrain for two years and had to do the rest
gearbox, discbrakes (spindles), rear axle
It took about 50 of my best curses and hammerthrowing. I enjoyed parts of it and parts just completely annoyed the crap out of me. I got it finished 2 weeks ago and now watch me smile :-D

Where are you stuck right now?

We did a swap on the 66 a while back....

As far as encouragement goes, our swap produced a car that is a blast to drive....

It was worth it...

My fastback below is a T code. I've changed it over and love it. The secret is to not let the pressure of finishing get to you. Take a break, walk away for a month. You'll be re-energized again.

I just recently completed my swap after years progress. Let us know where you're hung up, and most likely one of us has already solved that exact problem.

I gotta I 6 and as I understand , the following mujst go cause of weignt/power ,, front spindles, rear axle ( both to 5 lugs for power changes) possible tranny/drive shaft swap due to bolt patterns and such ,,,,best advise I can say is is to dig in as far as possible BEFORE STARTING to know what needs to be done and saftly at that

I am not really sure what "really" needs changed. My car was a 6 converted to an 8 then I bought it in parts. They did not change the spindles or rearend. or any steering parts as far as I can tell. I think ....and I don't know this for sure but, it would seem logical that the type of driving you paln on doing would dictate alot of you need to be done right away mods. I think I still have the stock coil springs, but it sets fine with a small amount of rake. I think the advice above of not leting the pressure of getting it done right away is really good. I had the same problem. I am now alot calmer about the project it was overwhelming at first. Chang the "have tos" then the "want tos" good luck!!

i am just about to get the engine in the car then get it running, then rear end and all of that stuff. all i want is to get the engine in and running but hard to find time , when i do have time i feel like not doing any thing, since my car and all parts are a few miles away.
