i would say becuase
1) as 67 said, most people know its a late 60s
2) most people would guess the late 60s over mid 60s due to muscle/pony cars not really being big until '67

66 because it is a the "floating" mustang logo on the grill with the chrome trim around the outsides of the grill but still haveing the 65 body (for the most part).

Lmao,That's all part of owning a classic, just because it's been around for a while people think they know everything about them.

I have people ask if my 67 is a 65-66.

I always get the urge to say " no you dumba** it's a 67." I always have to tell them it is a 67 3-5 times in the conversation.

MY favorite is

"Hey man. Nice mustang. That a 68?"

"No, it's a 70."

"Are you sure? Because A buddy of mine had one exactly like that but it was a 68"

"Well if it is a 68 I got really lucky when I bought all the stuff for a 70, because it all ft pretty well."

You see WAFFLES I would have just assumed your car was a 68 because yours doesn't look anything like mine,I mean yours is all sloped in the back and everything.
My next door neighbors grandpa's son-in-law on the groom's side had one and it was a 68 Mustagula edition. and that makes me the authority on all Mustang's!
Lol sound familiar guys?

My personal favorite so far has to be. THEM: "That's a coupe? I didn't know they made coupe's in that year" ME: "What year do you think it is?" THEM: "Oh, Well that has to be a late sixties model" ME: "Yup" and walk away shaking my head.

I think I would walk away laughing really hard if someone asked me "That a fastback?"
