Default Time to Get Engine Smart

I am working on getting a 1965 Coupe in driving shape. I'll be the first one to admit that I am mechanically inept. Stupid. Naive. OK, stupid.

Realize that a lot of stuff is trial and error and "just do it" and learn. But I would like to increase basic knowledge of how the various car systems work. Like the wiring system and how to find sending units and make sure they are working. And understand how the various parts of an engine work and interact.

Anyone know of good online resources for learning such stuff? I am pretty sick of being limited to installing shocks, light bulbs and air filters. Time to get serious.

Help and advice is greatly appreciated.
