Default miles per gallon

realistically, what kind of mileage could one expect to get from a 289 coupe 1968 per gallon?? just want to know what's the average?? Mine's thirsty enough. Any fuel saving tricks?? Like converting or changing anything??

how about smiles per gallon? what gear ratio? what carb etc I wouldnt expect much more than 15 or so max. maybe a bit more with highway gears and a light foot.
I get about 10 on mine but I have 3.80 gears with a C4

I have actually managed low 20's when being really nice to it. But then again I have a 3 speed manual with the 2.79 gears and 2bbl carb on my 289.

on a 65 289 2V i get between 10-15mpg i think.

All ive ever watched was how many gallons i put in and the miles i supposedly put on the car.

Talking

I get 12 mph (mostly city driving) with a 650 cfm 4v, C4, 24" tires and 3.50 gears. Many pedestrians along the gas stations here at the beach wear bikinis, so a daily fill-up isn't too painful. Sometimes I just stop to wash the windshield.

Smile

Carlos,
That is the way to get gas and pay for it with a smile on your face. Do the attendents wash the windows for you during filling up??? That would be NICE!!!!!!!!!
