Default Winter Storage

I need to put my car in storage this week, I don't know the next time I will be around to drive it. I am just going to put a cover over it and keep it out of the weather. I'm concerned about keeping mice and what not out of it and prevent them from ruining the wiring and interior. I have heard that you can put a couple bars of Irish Spring in there to keep them away, any truth to that? Any other tips?

I heard that laundry dryer sheets will keep mice out. I am going to try that this year.

No wonder I found like 20 dryer sheets when we bought our 65, lol. I thought it was cause they wanted her to smell pretty, lol!!!!!! I would cover the exhaust pipe with aluminum foil too.

Dryer sheets work.
But I can tell you when you get in after a month the smell can be overpowering.

I use Irish Spring and it has worked well. Moth ***** will leave a lasting smell as with the dryer sheets which I hate the smell. Also you may want to put some solid poison blocks around the garage and under the car. WD on all the chrom, and a little added air pressure to the tires and removal of the battery. The ideal enviorment is one that is controlled with a humidity level between 40 and 60%. Wax her before you put her to bed along with a shot of STABIL to the fuel. Armor All on the plastic, FG, and vinal. Its also a good idea to leave the windows cracked an inch or so if stored inside to prevent mold. I also use a sheet of poly under the car to trap condensation. No sunlight will prevent any UV damage. A good cotton cover is good protection also as it breaths. Good luck, she will be nice and fresh and smell like a man in the spring.

Thanks for the tips guys, I'm going out to get myself a locking car cover tonight and a few bars of soap. Its hopefully only going to go away for a few months before I ship it out to myself in California. I'm not really concerned with the chrome, it needs to be replaced. The whole car needs a restore but is in good shape, it is still original from the factory. The interior and wiring is what I'm concerned about, it is still in great shape, that I am going to do Armor All. But I don't need mice chewing on it, that was my main worry. And good call on the mold, I didn't even think of that.

If it's going indoors, put some regular trip wire, neck snapping mouse traps baited with Skippy around it in combination with the dryer sheets.
This has worked for me, and I have all kinds of little critters living around me. (woods, woods and more woods.)

That way you get a body count, just like 'nam.

Oh no Mickey's in the trees!

I don't quite have the problem of mice out here, but they are still here. And I won't be able to check the traps though, don't want to come back to rotting mice, that won't be fun. Already happened to me restoring a 65 that had been sitting outside for about 2 years with no windshield. Ripping out the carpet and this mummified squirrel flew out at me.
