Default What is this worth?

I just started working on my 67 coupe. I then saw this ad that is pretty close to me. I started thinking maybe I would prefer a vert...but I think his price maybe a tad high. I was thinking more on the lines of $1500. What do you guys think? Here is the ad:

"1966 Ford Mustang Convertable project car. Underside already patched up. Have many extra parts to choose from but still needs some parts. Parts still needed include hood, bumpers, and interior (Have dash and seats). Convertable top is not bad, but not perfect. Drivetrain includes an assembled bottom end of a motor that I don't know (V8, probably a 289). Was automatic car. $2900 will buy it now but, I will listen to reasonable offers. Title in hand. Cash Talks! "

I'd say that $2000 would be a pretty reasonable offer, considering that it is a convertible.

The price is fair especialy if the floor and frame rails are solid. IF you want a vert. go get it!

Yea I hear that, I have done it a few times... I just don't care for convertibles.

"Underside already patched up."

One thing I would find out is did he "patch" the underside or replace floor pans, etc. There is a big difference. If you patch then likely you will need new pans in a reasonably short amount of time.

I'd love to have a convertible to go next to my 69. I tried to talk my wife into letting me get one for her once I finish the Fastback/Sportroof. She told me she'd rather have a Karman Ghia coupe...Oh well.

Looking at those pictures it seems pretty rusty. If, like was stated, the frame rails and floors are good it should be a decent buy especially if there are extra parts and it's just surface rust.
