Default Insurance for your classic

If you are like me, and store your classic Mustang for most of the year inside a garage, then you might save some money by having your classic insured by Hagerty. There is an age requirement, and a time period of storage versus driving miles, but it fits my bill just right. Here is the link. http://www.hagerty.com/

Yeah, this insurance allows quite a bit of driving, but not for a daily driver, and you kids are excluded.

Yeah, I tried several times to get the classic insurance. I wonder what it is about being a 19 yr old driving a highly valued car on a daily basis that scares those insurnace people? [sm=smiley24.gif]

Oh well...the $160 a month is well worth it.

I tried to get Grundy a couple weeks back... They asked if I had another vehicle - yes. Do I keep the Mustang garaged and under lock and key - yes. Do I ever use it for errands - yes. BAM! "I'm sorry; but we can't insure any vehicle used for errand-running."

No taking the Mustang to the store for Milk! What's the point then?

I probobly would have just laughed and not answered when they asked. That way you wouldnt be lieing, but they would assume you dont.

The classic insurance with our insurance company only lets you drive the car to shows, or in parades. They say you have to trailer everywhere else. To make it better, you can only drive to the specified locations like two months a year. It was ridiculous. If your crusing around and someone side swipe you, and you go to claim it, they would say "Not a parade? Not a show? Not on a trailer? Sorry, no coverage."

Whats the point of having a car if you can't drive it around and have fun with it?

It may be pointless to have a car that you can't drive around and have fun with, but it is a sin, an abomination and a crime against nature itself to have a classic mustang condemned to such a futile existence!
OK! OK! I am just jealous of those unblemished, concourse mustangs.

Oh, I don't store mine 10 months out of the year because it is an umblemished concours or trailer queen. I work overseas, and store it until the summertime. But, I put a few thousand miles on it during the summer. Now, when I retire next year, I will have to add it to my 03 Mach1 policy.
