65' exhaust tips/rocker moldings
Can anyone enlighten me regarding the correct year and usage of the rear exhaust tips? I have a 65' 2+2, and considering putting the rear valance with protruding exhaust tips back on. I am not sure if it was correct for the year.
Also, when were the rocker panel moldings used (below the door jam kick plate). Is it just a personal preference (installed option)?

65-6 GT mustangs had the rear valance with the exhaust tips through it.
Only mustangs without rocker moulding were shelby mustang IIRC.
Modern restorations however have relegates the rocker moulding to an optional part...some people like their car without them

Just to add to what Dodgestang said - the exhaust trumpets could also be ordered separate from the GT package (for '65 and '66 models). And I believe that a lot of the early '65 cars received either the side ornament or the rocker moulding. Don't quote me on that one though...
