Default sound proofing?

Been looking into sound proofing my car after paint. I purchased some from NPD but that stuff is just rolled tar paper and still in the boxes. What have you all been using?
Dynamat
Fatmat
Edead
RAAMat
Pros / cons? Success and failures? also any one use the paint/spray on forms?

Thanks

I have Fatmat in my car. I purchase 100 ft and it was enough to do my convertible. I can't think of a downside. I may not reduce the sound as much as dynomat (I am not sure if this is true) but you could put two layers on and give even more sound insulation and still save money. It made a huge difference. I would do it again or if I was feeling real ambitious I would spray in Lizard Skin. I have heard good things about Lizard.

eDead worked great for me, get the 1.60 one though probably more worthwhile, and thats what I got.

I think they all are pretty decent. I think dynamat is way overpriced. I plan on using fatmat as a lot of people here have used it and had great success. Do alittle research but I think any sound proffing will be a huge improvement. The tar stuff I think is the stock sound proofing and I've heard if you put that down over, say fatmat, it will make your carpet fit better.

most of the sound deadners are asphalt based.Theres a roofing shield called Peel N Seal that I have only found at Lowes. It comes in a 10"X25ft rool and cost about 12-15 bucks.I use this on all my installs unless a cstomer is dumb enough to pay 2-300 bucks for a whole car with Dynamat,Brown Bread or Hush Mat.

Just so you know.. MANY people here have spent 200 to 300 bucks on heat and sound deadening. I don't consider any of them 'dumb'. Also, if you think the roofing product you use in your cars comes close to the higher priced NON-Asphalt products your sadly mistaken.

I used rattle trap. its the higher version of fatmat. It is a little thicker so its like puting 1 1/2 layers of fatmat on, which in turn is supposed to make it more than 2times better. I bought 100sqft and am planning on buying another 50 for my doors and roof. I cant tell you how it works, car doesnt drive

Read my post again.I said MY customers, because like everything a reputation says nothing about a product.I have been in car audio for about 15 years and know and deal with a lot of the big manufacturs out there as well as some of the IASCA cars.Theres a lot of secrets that people dont know.If YOU know of a way to tell the difference besides a big logo plastered all over it, let me know.

check out this link, lots of good info http://www.sounddeadenershowdown.com/ I went with the Second Skin and was very happy with it. So far I've done under and behind the backseat, a steel divider between the backseat and the trunk and most of the trunk and under the package shelf. It made a dramatic difference.
