Default Timing Help

Hey guys, I just dropped in a blown 347 w/ 10 lbs of boost in my 66. I can't seem to get the idle to smooth out to where I like. Does anybody have any ideas about where the timing should be?

Is yours blown or naturally aired? When my 302 was natural, I ran it at about 8 degs.

8 degress is factory setting. in any case all recommendations usually go:
advance as much as possible without pinging. So it's basically adjust-drive-adjust-drive
8 deg should be fine in all cases.

If your car doesn't idle nicely it can be:
- lopey (mad camshaft) ?
- you didn't plug all ports on the carburator and it's sucking air where it shouldn't
- you have hooked up the vacuum of distributor to manifold vacuum instead of ported vacuum

etc etc etc

in any case it should run smooth at 8 degree idle. use it as a basline
