Well I took the stang for a drive today...i was very nervous...it actually drove very well but when the transmission would shift into OD under very little load something in the rear would slam. could not yet tell if it was coming from the tranny or the rear. felt like the rear.

I have an AOD into a detroit locker 9'' with 4.10 or 4.11's whichever. lol

any ideas or how i go about tracking down the problem?

What did you set the line pressure at for the trany, it may be too high? Do you feel any loose play in the universals?

universals are what hold the drive shaft to the rear right? That should be tight...brand new. thats part of the problem too everything is brand new. The tranny pressure is set high but i set it high because i cannot get my gauge to thread into the tv port of the tranny.

any chance to jack/lift the car and reproduce? maybe someone can have a look or drive 'in air' so you can check where it's coming from.

I don't know enough about autos to comment on the transmission end of things, but a locker will clunk and pop as you enter and exit a turn. Just me, but I think it may be money well spent to find someone local who is a auto guru to get you set up and give you peace of mind.
